An organic ceremonial matcha, grown in Japan
Amoseeds' Organic Ceremonial Matcha Tea is a powder made of 100% organic matcha tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). The tea is grown in Japan. The leaves come from the very first spring harvest and are picked with shears. They are shaded for 15 to 30 days before picking, then dried and ground with a ceramic millstone, according to the brand. The organic certification is issued by Ecocert France (FR-BIO-10). The product is packed in France.
How to prepare it
For a light matcha (usucha), the brand recommends 2 level teaspoons, i.e. 2 g. For a strong matcha (koicha), use 4 g. Pour 100 ml of water at 80°C into a bowl or mug, then whisk with a chasen to avoid lumps. Matcha contains caffeine: Amoseeds recommends not drinking it after 4 pm.
Price
The 100 g pouch costs €37.99, which makes about 50 cups of 2 g and €0.76 per cup. With the code LMC, it drops to €34.20 (€0.68 per cup). The no-commitment subscription is €34.19 and cannot be combined with the code. Pickup point delivery is free from €40.
Our verdict
Japanese origin, first harvest, certified organic and a reasonable price per cup: this is why it tops our matcha comparison. The only drawback: no laboratory analysis is published on the product page.
