About Kawira
Kawira is a French brand that reinvents cacao in an unexpected form: the infusion. Rather than turning it into chocolate, it makes the most of the cacao bean husk, an aromatic part of the bean that has long been overlooked.
Born out of the experience of an artisan chocolate maker, Kawira offers a purer, more sensory take on cacao. Its infusions can be enjoyed hot or cold, contain no lactose and fewer than 5 kcal per cup.
The brand speaks to anyone looking for a gentle alternative to coffee or hot chocolate, without giving up on flavour. Every cup is meant to be simple, calm and intentional.
Origins and vision
Kawira draws its inspiration from Mesoamerican traditions, where cacao was already being drunk more than 1,500 years ago. The brand reinterprets that heritage and turns it into a modern, accessible ritual.
Behind the project is a chocolate maker who has been working with cacao since his teens. His travels, from Guadeloupe to Madagascar, fed one conviction: cacao is a living material, tied to a land and to real craftsmanship.
That artisan vision translates into several commitments:
- making the most of cacao husk, too often written off as a simple by-product
- favouring small batch production in France
- selecting raw materials from traceable supply chains
Ranges and specialities
Kawira keeps its offer short and coherent: infusions made from cacao husks, in two versions for two different moods. The idea stays the same, finding the soul of cacao in a light cup, with no dairy.
The brand highlights the actives naturally present in cacao:
- magnesium, linked to the normal function of the nervous system
- theobromine, valued for a more gradual sensation than coffee
- flavanols, the natural antioxidants found in cacao
Each infusion has its own carefully built aromatic profile, between cacao, vanilla and subtly spiced notes. This focus on cacao is what sets Kawira apart, with infusions that also work well in cooking.
Kawira products
Cacao husk infusions
Le rituel, the chocolate infusion, 100 g
The chocolate infusion is Kawira's flagship product. Sold in a 100 g pouch, roughly 20 cups, it offers an alternative to hot chocolate, without milk. The recipe brings together cacao husks, Madagascar vanilla, annatto, a hint of chilli and a little honey. The result is a rounded, indulgent cup, to be enjoyed hot or iced, at a reference price of 24.95 euros.
Le rituel, coffee alternative, 100 g
The second product is positioned as an alternative to coffee. Also sold in a 100 g format, it uses the same cacao husk base in a version designed for the moments when you need a lift. With no added caffeine, it relies on the theobromine in cacao for a gentler sensation. Its reference price is the same, 24.95 euros per pouch.
Quality and certifications
Kawira relies on traceability and on a short recipe, with no artificial flavourings or additives. The cacao bean husks are described as organically grown and selected for their aromatic qualities.
According to the brand, these husks come from beans grown by an indigenous community in Costa Rica and are processed with a partner artisan chocolate maker. Several elements back up this quality positioning:
- blending and packing carried out in France
- small batch production
- vanilla sourced in Madagascar, from growers met on site
The organic claim still needs clarifying as to which body certifies it.
How do you prepare Kawira infusions?
Kawira infusions are prepared like a herbal tea, simply and with no special equipment. The brand recommends hot water and a generous steeping time, to be adjusted depending on how intense you want the cup.
A few useful pointers:
- the longer the steeping, the more the cacao aromas come through
- the drink can be enjoyed hot, or cold for a refreshing version
- a cup in the morning can replace coffee, another one extends the afternoon break
Free from caffeine and lactose, Kawira fits into different moments of the day. Its flexible preparation lets everyone find their own ritual.
In short
Kawira offers an original reading of cacao, in the form of artisan infusions made in France. Somewhere between a coffee alternative and the pleasure of hot chocolate, the brand combines traceability, carefully built flavours and lightness. A short range worth discovering, to turn a simple cup into a ritual.
