Enako Review: Is This Hydration Drink Worth It?

ENAKO is a French sparkling hydration drink built around four natural ingredients, with no added sugar and no synthetic taurine. Created in northern France in 2024, it positions itself as a cleaner alternative to conventional energy drinks, with a formula focused on hydration, freshness and everyday performance.

Enako Review: Is This Hydration Drink Worth It?
Review in a nutshell

My brief review of ENAKO

My first contact with ENAKO was a real surprise. The ultra-readable formula stands in sharp contrast to the hard-to-decipher labels of the big brands. Four ingredients, transparent dosing, and real consistency between the brand’s message and what you actually find in the can. For anyone looking for a clean boost without wondering what they are drinking, it is genuinely refreshing.

The taste is fruity and slightly tangy, without that chemical feel typical of classic energy drinks. The energizing effect is gradual and long-lasting, without the famous mid-afternoon crash. The price remains accessible, especially if you choose the 24-can pack. A few points still need improvement, particularly in-store availability outside the region, but the brand is moving fast.

My experience with ENAKO: the test

I ordered the Mixed Pack directly from the ENAKO website so I could alternate between the two flavors over several weeks. The order arrived quickly, well protected, with the cans in perfect condition. The 50/50 format is genuinely the smartest way to start without committing to a single flavor.

The pack includes six Peach cans and six Red Fruit cans in the 12-unit version, or twelve of each in the 24-unit version. Ideal if you do not want your routine to become repetitive.

🔎 Verdict on taste and texture

The Peach flavor is soft and velvety, with light acidity from the lemon juice. Refreshing without being sugary, it clearly shows the natural character of the concentrated juice. No artificial aftertaste.

The Red Fruit flavor is more assertive: raspberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant give it an intense and slightly tannic profile. Both cans are best enjoyed well chilled, between 4 and 8 °C, without the chemical sensation you often get from industrial energy drinks.

👉 Effectiveness and how it feels

The energizing effect comes on gradually, between 15 and 30 minutes after drinking, without the harsh spike of a classic coffee. You stay focused and alert for a 3- to 4-hour window, with no jitters and no crash when the effect wears off.

I tested one can before an intense work session and another before a run. In both cases, the feeling was stable and consistent: steady energy, no excessive heart racing, and no post-caffeine hunger dip.

Who is ENAKO?

ENAKO is Antoine’s project, a food engineer from northern France. A former regular energy drink consumer, he looked for a natural alternative and never really found one on the market. So he created it himself, starting in March 2024, between his kitchen and his garage.

After a year of local R&D, the formula was finalized. A crowdfunding campaign in May 2025 generated one hundred pre-orders and one thousand cans sold. From July 2025, ENAKO entered physical retail distribution, with a first hypermarket in October 2025 and expansion to Annecy.

📌 Key commitments:

  • 100% French production, near Poitiers
  • Fruit sourced in Europe, green tea and ginseng of Chinese origin
  • Recipe with no added sugar, no sweeteners, and no chemical preservatives
  • 88% recyclable cans (aluminum)

Overview of the ENAKO range

The range is deliberately focused and designed to keep things simple. Three key options are available directly on the official website:

  • Discovery Pack at €17.90: 3 Peach cans + 3 Red Fruit cans, free pickup-point delivery, ideal for a first no-commitment test
  • Peach or Red Fruit Pack at €34.90: 12 or 24 cans of a single flavor, for those who already know their preference
  • Mixed Pack at €34.90: a 50/50 split between the two flavors, the brand’s bestseller according to the official website

Composition spotlight: how good is the ENAKO Mixed Pack really?

Each can in the Mixed Pack is built on the same base formula, adapted into two distinct fruity profiles. The Peach version contains concentrated peach juice (6.7%) and lemon juice (0.3%), while the Red Fruit version includes raspberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant (7.2%) with lemon (0.3%).

Both share the same active ingredient dosing: ginseng extract (0.05%), green tea extract (0.03%), and caffeine from tea (0.03%), i.e. 80 mg per 250 ml can. The nutrition values are almost identical: 18 kcal per 100 ml, about 4 g of carbohydrates, zero fat, and zero salt.

The L-theanine naturally present in green tea is documented in the scientific literature for modulating the effect of caffeine. This is not “fairy dusting”: the L-theanine and caffeine combination is one of the most studied pairings in sports nutrition.

One point to watch: the concentrations of ginseng and green tea are low (0.05% and 0.03% respectively). The effect remains noticeable thanks to the added isolated caffeine, but the ginsenosides from ginseng are present only in trace amounts. ENAKO does not claim to be a concentrated food supplement: it is a natural energy drink, and the formula is coherent for that use.

Technical analysis and expert verdict

The composition is clean, readable, and consistent with the stated positioning. No sweeteners, no colorants, no chemical preservatives. The cans are 88% recyclable. The brand claims French production, which is verifiable from the official information published.

The nutritional profile is among the lightest in the energy drink market: 45 kcal per can, compared with around 110 kcal on average for a classic energy drink. It is a coherent option for regular consumption, without a major calorie compromise.

👉 Our advice:

  • Drink 30 minutes before physical activity or an intense work session
  • Limit intake to 1 or 2 cans per day (160 mg of caffeine maximum)
  • Avoid drinking it in the evening if you are sensitive to caffeine
  • Not recommended for children, pregnant women, or people sensitive to caffeine

ENAKO’s star product

ENAKO Mixed Pack

The Mixed Pack is the best entry point into the ENAKO universe. With 12 or 24 cans split evenly between Peach and Red Fruit, it lets you vary the experience without getting bored. From €2.60 per can in the 24-unit version, the value for money is strong for a 100% natural drink French-made.

🏆 My final review: should you buy from ENAKO?

My final grade:
8.3
/10

The Bottom Line: ENAKO delivers on the essentials. The formula is clean, the taste is good, and the energizing effect is real and steady. For a natural sparkling drink with no added sugar or additives, it is clearly one of the few serious options currently available on the French market.

Price vs Quality: At €2.60 per can in the 24-pack format, ENAKO costs less than a coffee on a cafe terrace while offering a nutritional profile far superior to conventional energy drinks, which are typically sold for €1.80 to €2.50 per can and often come with 25 g of sugar. The comparison clearly favors ENAKO once ingredient quality is taken into account.

The Verdict: Yes, without hesitation, for anyone looking for a natural, light, and effective alternative to industrial energy drinks.
